Before you appoint a marine surveyor
What information is needed for a Singapore marine survey quote?
Provide the exact marina, berth, anchorage or shipyard, vessel particulars, construction, purpose and preferred date. Include security clearance, haul-out, sea trial and any insurer, lender, Singapore registration, pleasure-craft or harbour-craft requirement.
Can an external surveyor enter any Singapore marina or shipyard?
Not automatically. Marinas and commercial yards may require advance registration, contractor approval, work permits, induction, PPE or an escort. The vessel representative should confirm access before attendance.
Who can survey a Singapore-registered pleasure craft for registration?
MPA states that required surveys of Singapore-registered pleasure craft must be conducted by recognised surveyors employed by accredited organisations. Confirm the current list and required report before appointment.
How often does a Singapore-registered pleasure craft need the MPA survey?
MPA’s current guidance says Singapore-registered pleasure craft must be surveyed every three years for the applicable safety-equipment requirements, with a valid survey report used for registration or renewal. Other inspections and private surveys are separate.
Are security access, haul-out and sea trial included?
Only when expressly included. Visitor or contractor arrangements, launch transport, yard fees, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel and specialist diagnostics can be separate.
Who appoints the marine surveyor?
The client appoints the independent surveyor and agrees scope, fee, timing, limitations and terms directly. Singapore Marine Survey provides information and introductions only.
